We're very excited to see you in St. Joseph, Missouri.
 

Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri officially becomes “The Summer Home of the Chiefs,” as 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp presented by Heartland Health begins with a practice at 1:50 PM on Friday, July 30th.  Practices will be held almost daily through August 19th.

During the non-practice times, there is plenty to do and see in St. Joseph and we invite you to take full advantage of all our city has to offer. 

Jesse James Home MuseumIt might surprise you to know that St. Joseph has 13 historical museums that are open daily.  From the Pony Express Museum, dedicated to the 1860 mail service, this year celebrating the 150th Sesquicentennial of the Pony Express, The Patee House Museum, a glorious hotel turned 19th century museum, and next door you’ll find Jesse James Home, where Jesse was shot by Bob Ford in 1882.  You can learn about the Nation's military history at the National Military Heritage Museum, and view extraordinary art collections at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum.  The history of mental health treatment is at the Glore Psychiatric Museum, one of three museums on the grounds of the St. Joseph Museums complex.   All museums and attractions are listed on our website.

In addition to history, St. Joseph has a very rich cultural life which includes concerts at The St. Joseph Symphony, Missouri Theatrenationally touring music and theatre acts at the Performing Arts Association, and famous comedians at Robidoux Resident Theater.  Nightlife includes Broadway caliber performances at the historic Missouri Theatre and dinner theatre at the Robidoux Landing Playhouse.  Some exciting nightlife can be found Downtown at the Felix Street Experience, a series of pubs, bars and nightclubs that line beautiful Felix Street. Whatever you're looking for you can find entertainment almost any night in St. Joseph.

St. Joseph is also one of America's best kept secrets in terms of historic architecture. Officially founded in 1843, this town quickly grew to become one of the most important sites of commerce and trade for the West which is reflected in the city's extraordinary architecture. Stop by the Visitors Center and pick up a walking tour of Downtown St. Joseph architectural gems.

St. Joseph Aquatic ParkDon't miss experiencing the amazing parkway system, developed in 1918 by architect George Burnap.  The green belt ribbons through the city for 26 miles, comprised of 1500 acres containing 48 parks.and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.  Along the parkway is the Remington Nature Center, which offers a unique view into the evolution nature and civilization in northwest Missouri and the St. Joseph Aquatic Park, a public pool which has a 203' Waterslide, 165' Enclosed Waterslide, 50 Meter Pool, Waterfall, Vortex, Zero Depth Beach Entry, and a 300' Lazy River...perfect for hot summer days.
